BB&E obtained a No Further Action (NFA) determination from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) for a hexavalent chrome (CrVI) cleanup project of an active industrial site in western Michigan. In accordance with the Judicial Consent Decree (JCD) regarding the performance of response activities at the facility, BB&E prepared a Remedial Design and implemented the Remedial Action for this former chrome plating facility. A Response Activity Plan (RAP) for Source Area Remedial Design was prepared and implemented to treat sources of soil and groundwater CrVI contamination at and emanating from the facility. Calcium polysulfide (CPS) treatment chemistry was utilized as an in-situ reducing agent to convert CrVI to CrIII. Remedial response activities included a data gap investigation, bench scale testing, remedial design, full-scale in-situ injections of CPS treatment chemistry, and site performance monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. BB&E prepared the No Further Action (NFA) documentation including the financial assurance mechanism (FAM) to effectively discontinue active site remediation and enable commencement with long-term site groundwater monitoring per the NFA documentation and JCD requirements.

BB&E has been awarded the General Services Administration (GSA) One Acquisition Solution for Integrated Services (OASIS) Small Business (SB) Contract. OASIS SB is a contract that was developed in response to the Government's substantial need for a hybrid, Government-wide acquisition vehicle. OASIS SB is expected to provide federal agencies streamlined access to both commercial and non-commercial complex professional services. OASIS SB is designed to reduce duplication of contracting efforts across the Government and provide federal agencies with comprehensive, integrated professional services contract options. Selection for the contract award was very competitive, with over 330 bidders vying across six pools for the $10 billion that is expected to be spent under this contract. BB&E competed and was awarded a contract in Pool 1, which contains over 20 NAICS Codes including engineering services, marketing consulting services, and other professional, scientific, and technical services. Companies were screened and assessed by GSA to determine their qualifications for specific professional service needs. 187 companies competed in Pool 1. Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the GSA, the US Air Force Combat and Mission Support has committed to use GSA OASIS to acquire professional services throughout their portfolio of programs. In Pool 1, there are 40 selected small businesses who will compete over the next 18 months for approximately 40 task orders to provide professional services for the USAF Life Cycle Management Center, Wright Patterson Air Force Base (AFB); the Air Force Test and Evaluation Center, Eglin AFB; and the Air Force Space and Missile Center for the next five years.
